About this data
These figures count reports that customers submit to BPL through its public outage tracker, for New Providence and Paradise Island. They are reports, not confirmed outages: one outage can bring in many reports, and some outages are never reported.
Statistics start August 1, 2026, the date of the earliest report in BPL's public tracker. Days are counted in Nassau time.
Reports BPL marked as canceled are left out. Every other report counts on the day it was submitted.
Outages are reports of no power or part of a building without power. Voltage problems are low, high or fluctuating voltage and appliances shocking. Hazards are everything else, such as lines down or sparking, poles, transformers and trees in lines.
A typical day is the median number of reports per day over the last 90 complete days. Days with at least three times that number (and at least 10 reports) are listed as major events.
Recurring problem areas rank areas by the number of separate days with reports, counted to the end of yesterday, so one large event counts as a single day.
Busiest areas and the area lookup group reports into squares of about 1 km. Each square is named after the area most often typed by people reporting from it, so names are approximate. Map locations are rounded to about half a kilometer, and names and street addresses are never shown.
BPL's records show when a report was closed rather than when power came back, so restoration times aren't shown.
